We hike the trails Madrigal, Cementerio, Paraíso y El Barco; this forest trail runs mostly close to the beach. It is completely flat and you only have to cross one river and several small streams. The biggest part of the trail is in secondary rain forest and you can see primary rain forest in the neighbouring mountains.
You can admire Kapok Trees (one of the highest tree one on the Osa Peninsula, Matapalo, Naked Indian, Balsa, or Jobo trees (Hog Plums). We also see endemic plants of the Neotropics like heliconias, lianas, fruit trees, medicinal plants, bromeliads and epiphytes. Generally you have the chance of spotting monkeys, ant eaters, Scarlet Macaws, White Nosed Coatis, Tayras, Mountain Deer, and a great variety of birds like Hummingbirds, Guans, Currasows, Trogons, Tanagers, Herons, and Falcons just to name a few.
With luck we catch a glimpse on a puma, tapir or a sloth.
