Corcovado Tour

 

Corcovado National Park is one of the largest parks in Costa Rica, and with the greatest biodiversity. Corcovado has approximately 100,000 acres and is located on the southwestern region of the Osa Peninsula. There are no roads inside the park. There are only two ways to visit Corcovado: walking or by air.

Corcovado National Park is located just 500 meters from La Leona Eco Lodge. You begin your hike in Corcovado on a path close to the beach, 16 kilometers to arrive at Sirena Biological Station.

If you decide to visit the park by air, you leave from the airfield in Carate, located 3 kilometers from La Leona ecolodge, landing within a few minutes on a grass field in Sirena, right in the center of the park.

Inside the park you will find many paths in the primary forest and if lucky, you may have the opportunity of seeing the jaguar, an animal that is hard to find outside of Corcovado, because it needs this type of habitat. At La Leona Eco Lodge we can make all the necessary arrangements for your tour to Corcovado National Park . Please make your reservation several days in advance.

For this tour we recommend 2 or more days. Our hike begins on a path that runs along the beach shore and takes you inside Corcovado’s territory.

Along this path you will find a varied vegetation of shrubs, lianas, ferns and palms.

Soon after we begin our hike we find our constant friends throughout the Corcovado tour, high up in the trees we can see spider monkeys, faithful companions, who kick up a terrible racket upon seeing us invading their dominions, which is now our path during this Corcovado tour. As we walk along we begin seeing other animals that inhabit the park: coatis, peccaries, tapirs and a large variety of marine and forest birds, particularly sparrow hawks, red macaws, trogons, pelicans and seagulls.
